Silver Rim
Silver Rim is a part of the Silver Reef area, an old mining district just northwest of Leeds, Utah. With impressive ridges and rims that catch the morning light with a amber glow this spot turns vidid in the morning. In this image the high Pine Valley Mountains loom in the back and provide a sober contact of color. The trees lining the ephemeral wash catch the first rays of day and provide a bright leading line along with the road heading up the canyon.

Photo Log
Before the sun found its way to the bottom of Dry Fork Canyon, I ventured into the forest. The colors were dark and rich. The trunks of the towering cottonwoods cut stark silhouettes against the backlit autumn yellows and emerald greens. Distant hills still in shadow reflected purples, blues and pinks. Capturing this frame in the ICM style for me speaks of the mystic mood of the forest that morning.
