From Flowers to Forests

Here at Sandau Fine Art Gallery at 461 W. 200 S, in Vernal, Utah, we feature two paintings this week from our visiting artists Garth Harrison and Cheryl Livingston-Young.

The first painting is a large 22x28 original oil painting by Garth Harrison titled “From Grandma’s Garden”. This magnificent still life is full of color and detail, from the shaded dark green curtains in the back with its mottled light to the glassware and apples on the table. These elements perfectly frame the beautifully arranged bouquet of freshly picked flowers. Each flower with its foliage is beautifully painted with vibrant colors and perfect side lighting.

The second work this week is from artist Cheryl Livingston-Young, a large 24x30 original oil painting titled “Calm”.  This is truly calming to look at with is wonderful composition and soft complimentary colors. This beautiful mountain scene invites you in as your eye passes over the reflective surface of the lake, past the pine covered shores up to the snowy heights of the mountains behold.
